JOURNEY TO JAZZ AND KRONKELDRAAIE KONSERTE

PACT launched their inaugural Journey to Jazz festival in September 2022. This fees is an annual event in the heart of the Karoo taking place in May – offering a feast of music, art, and storytelling all while illuminating a future of possibility for young people in the small desert town.

The programme has already attracted big names in the jazz world and provides young people an opportunity to tap into apprenticeships, master classes, to perform to large audiences and gain exposure to the global stage.

The festival invites the audience to embark on an exploration of music and storytelling made richer by the diversity of the Karoo, its people and their combined creative spirit.

The youth Journey to Jazz producers host small acoustic Kronkeldraaie Konserte during the months running up to the festival in intimate venues around Prince Albert. These gigs introduce various genres of music, inspire conversation and collaborations and feed in to the Journey to Jazz Kuif or Fringe festival.

GROET IS ‘N MOET

This is a celebration of community! Groet is ‘n Moet gathers people around a long table to share a meal prepared by a community member and made from local produce. This is a much-anticipated event and brings together local residents of Prince Albert and visitors to the town.

KERS EN VERS

Taking place at the end of the year, this gratitude-inspired walk through the town is fuelled by lanterns, candles, singing and community spirit. The walk ends at the PACT centre.

#US4US FESTIVAL

This is an annual showcase of local music and dance talent. #us4us builds a performing platform for emerging and established local artists to gain experience on the big stage. It is a celebration of original material and locally curated production.
